Men’s Volleyball

The Men’s Volleyball team come off a 3-1 victory over Mount Mercy University, and look to add to the win totals against conference rival St. Ambrose University in what was sure to be a home game thriller for the Cougars.

Tuesday, February 7

After 4 competitive sets, St. Ambrose University won the game 3 sets to 1 (25-21, 25-23, 25-10, 25-16 respectively). The game started out on a positive note for the Cougars behind a 25-21 set victory, but the momentum quickly fell and stayed in the hands of St. Ambrose. Despite the outcome, senior hitter Dan O’Keefe had a good game. Leading the team with 12 kills.

Although the lost this game, the Cougars still had another game to look forward to and ultimately turn things around.

Friday, February, 10

The Cougars matched up against Lourdes University in another home game. Being at home did not amount to success for the Cougars unfortunately as the lost the game 3 sets to 0. At this point in the season, the Cougars stand at 2-5and 0-2 in the CCAC conference. If the Cougars want to start to turn it around the need to make that stride this coming Tuesday when they face up against conference rival Cardinal Stretch University.

Track & Field

Julie Willging was the highlight of both teams in the North Central College, Chicagoland Invitational. Firstly, Willging finished the 3K race 1st with a time of 10:10.61. Not only that, but Willging finished the 5K race 1st overall as well with a time of 17:42.48. With these two outstanding performances, Willging qualified in the NAIA Women’s indoor Track and Field Track & Field Championships for both the 3K race and the 5K race. This tournament will take place on February 17 through February 18 at the Perry Student Life Recreation Center. For a recap of that game and many others keep it locked here at the Xavierite.
