Campus Facility Hours Should be Reconsidered

opening-times1I was a commuter for my first two years here at SXU, and this year I decided that living on campus would be in my best interest. What I have come to realize is that this has made my life so much easier. Okay, maybe not easier, but less stressed.

However, I did notice some things that I am not a fan of. Campus does tend to be a little more quiet on the weekends, but I am not a fan of the weekend hours for certain facilities.

For example, I didn’t know until this year that Starbucks was only open from 10am-4pm on Saturday and 2pm-11pm on Sunday. The library is only open 12pm-7pm on Saturdays and 12pm-12am on Sundays.

Maybe it’s just me, but I would love it if they changed their hours. I like to start my day with an iced caramel macchiato in my hand and a study plan— a study plan that involves the library. Coffee Cats is closed on the weekends so I can’t even get my coffee from there. Also, the Shannon Center is only open 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Am I the only person who enjoys my workouts at night? I was so sad this past weekend when my sister and I planned to go workout and realized the gym was already closed.

All of my friends, roommates, and even my boyfriend have heard me rant about this. I’m not asking for a 24/7 campus, but I am asking for hours that are more convenient for the nerds like me that actually study on the weekends.
