On January 31, the application step of SXU’s search for a replacement for preceding Provost Dr. Angela Durante will finally come to an end.

The search for a new provost began back in October when Durante stepped down from the position after five years at the position.

A committee, the Provost Search Committee, was then established to handle the process of replacing Durante.

This committee has been conducting a targeted search for candidate for the position, sending a job post to several higher education magazines, websites and conferences including “The Chronicle of Higher Education,” “Inside Higher Education” and the SXU website.

After the application deadline of Jan. 31, the search committee will then review applications for qualifying factors. Among these qualifications are the abilities to advance SXU’s long-term academic development according to Vision 2017, to act as temporary fill-in as President in the case of an emergency, and to mirror President Wiseman’s goals for leadership.

The committee will then interview approved candidates off-campus during first phase of the selection process.

Candidates who make it past the off-campus interviews will participate in a variety of assessments including two days of on-campus meetings with the faculty and staff, full interviews, and two presentations open to the whole campus.

Questions for each candidate will then be developed based on the presentations and sent to each candidate. The process will continue until the search committee decides on a new provost.
